Wine Country

45 minutes south of Poco Cielo, the wine country starts in San Antonio de las Minas and extends along Highway 3 for about 14 miles.   Widely regarded as the best in Mexico. It is said that the first vitis vinifera (wine yielding grape vines) made it to the Baja Peninsula in 1703, when Jesuit Padre Juan de Ugarte planted the first vineyards there. There are roughly twenty wineries scatted across the valley.

Los Alisitos is popular for its fairly reliable waves. Breaks from 1' to 6'+. You can generally expect decent water quality. Also has a nice stretch of beach any time of year where you can usually find an uncrowded peak.  Long paddle in large surf. Surf frequency is very consistent (150 day/year) and the site has modern shower and toilet facilities. Surfing equipment is available at the nearby Surf Shop for those who come unprepared.
